Parsi New Year
, also known as "Nowruz" or "Norooz", is one of the most celebrated festivals in Iranian culture, and it marks the beginning of the
spring season
. Being a New Year, "Nowruz" also symbolises hope, rejuvenation, and the victory of light over darkness. The festival is celebrated by Iranis across the world with great enthusiasm and joy.
Nowruz
is a Farzi word which means New Day, thus marking the beginning of a new year.
Nowruz is based on the Iranian Solar Hijri calendar, and it marks the
spring equinox
which generally falls on or around March 19, 20, or 21 each year, as per the Gregorian calendar. And thus, Nowruz marks the beginning of spring. Traditional Nowruz celebrations include ritual dances, exchange of gifts, and much more. This year, Nowruz will be celebrated on March 20, 2024. But the
United Nations

A statement on Google Blog reads, "The annual festival has been around for over 3,000 years. The earliest origins of Nowruz trace back to ancient Iran (then Persia). It was held on the spring equinox to mark the start of the blooming season. As time went on, several countries and ethnic groups along the Silk Roads started adopting the tradition.
